Making Money via TikTok

Community Building & Engagement

A loyal community is more valuable than a large following. Learn how to create meaningful connections that last.

Build Real Connections

The creators who earn the most are the ones who build the deepest connections with their audience.

Be Authentically You

Share personal stories, be vulnerable, show your real personality. People connect with authenticity, not perfection.

Respond Thoughtfully

Don't just acknowledge comments — really engage with them. Ask follow-up questions. Show genuine interest.

Create Belonging

Give your community a name. Create inside jokes and traditions. Make everyone feel like they're part of something special.

Recognize Supporters

Shout out loyal viewers, create a "supporter wall of fame," remember returning viewers. Make people feel valued.

“People will forget what you said, but they'll never forget how you made them feel.”

This is the foundation of community building. Every interaction is an opportunity to make someone's day better.

Using Moderators

As your streams grow, moderators are essential for keeping the chat positive and manageable.

Choose trusted, active community members as moderators
Set clear guidelines for what's acceptable in chat
Empower mods to remove harmful comments quickly
Have at least 1 moderator per 100 concurrent viewers
Create a private group for moderators to coordinate
Thank moderators publicly — they're volunteering their time

How to Add a Moderator

During your live stream, tap on a viewer's profile → tap the three dots → select “Make Moderator.” They'll be able to mute or block disruptive users.

When to Use Moderators

Once you regularly have 50+ concurrent viewers, it becomes difficult to moderate chat yourself while streaming. That's when moderators become essential.

Growing Your Community

Post Consistently

Upload 1-3 videos daily between streams. Each video is a chance to attract new followers to your live streams.

Encourage User Content

Create challenges or prompts that viewers can participate in. Repost and celebrate their content.

Cross-Promote

Share clips from your lives on Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms to attract new audiences.

Use Relevant Hashtags

Research and use hashtags specific to your niche community. Use PascalCase for accessibility (#LikeThis).
